MentWorks is a 21st century program that features social networking mentorship in a break-the-mold technological platform to connect first-generation-college-aspiring middle and high school students from the inner city with currently-enrolled college students across the nation in a meaningful, real-time authentic manner. Working with MentWorks are leading researchers in the field of at-risk counseling and mentorship from across the nation as well as others with technical expertise and deep ties to the Ivy League member institutions.
“Poor and low-income youths often have few models within their families or neighborhoods to help expose them to the rules of the game for education and career development,” said University of Pennsylvania Professor Dr. Michael J. Nakkula, an expert in mentoring at-risk youth and a committed advisor to MentWorks.
