Patricia Melton

Patricia has assembled a versatile portfolio of hallmark achievements across a variety of educational, business and non-profit ventures that demonstrate an ability to create and implement innovation in start-ups and established institutions. She has exhibited distinction in five critical areas:

• Traditional Public Schools — As Chief Academic Officer of the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation, Indiana’s third largest district of 23,000 students and 1,500 certified staff, lead all teaching and learning activities, principal leadership development and support, new program start-up, innovation, central office infrastructure redesign and operations.

• Public Charter Schools — Ten years experience in Charter School start-up and operations, administration, fund development, facilities expansion, college guidance, evaluation and school-based teacher training program development.

• Intermediary Support and Network Development — Stategist and contributor to state dual enrollment policy development and pioneering work in building statewide Early College High School networks in Ohio and in Indiana.

• Independent Schools — New England association accrediting and human resource consultation, as well as 13-year trustee governance on the Middlesex School Board of Trustees.

• School Partnership Agreements — Over a decade of negotiating partnerships with universities, non-profits, and business.

The first in her family to attend and graduate from college, Pat received her B.A. in African-American Studies from Yale University and her M.Ed. from Arizona State University in Educational Administration and Supervision with a focus in Business. Her master’s degree was funded from a Fellowship supported by the U.S. Department of Education. She is currently completing her doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania (2010).
